
















This was a full front-yard hardscape and landscape overhaul at a stone manor-style home in Doylestown. The property had a large open lawn area in front with no real destination - nowhere to sit, no defined entry, and nothing that matched the character of the home itself. Our job was to fix all of that, start to finish.
We started with excavation - mini excavator on site, utility flags down, and a clear layout staked out for the patio footprint. The base work here matters more than most people realize. Gravel, compaction fabric, and proper grading are what separate a patio that holds up for decades from one that shifts and cracks in a few years. We don't skip steps on the foundation just because it won't be visible when we're done.
The centerpiece is a large circular flagstone patio set into a curved retaining wall with a built-in bench. Natural flagstone pieces were hand-cut and fitted on site - no two pieces are the same, and that's exactly the point. It gives the finished surface a look you can't get from stamped concrete or pavers alone. Around the patio, we installed fresh planting beds loaded with perennials, ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, and a small ornamental tree, all edged clean and mulched tight.
The front entry got a full rebuild too. The old steps were broken down and removed, and we poured a new base and laid large-format bluestone treads with block risers. Step lights were wired directly into the risers, so the entry glows at night. A paver walkway connects the driveway to the steps, tying the whole front of the home together. The bluestone and paver combination complements the natural stone facade of the house without trying too hard to match it.
Projects like this one - where you've got multiple elements all working together across a large property - take real coordination. You're running excavation, masonry, planting, and lighting all at once with a crew that knows how to sequence the work correctly.
